We will be holding a series of workshops and talks throughout the day in our dedicated workshop space:

A presentation for parents of very small children about the importance of free self initiated movement and play. Presented by Dot Male, author of 'The Parent and Child Group Handbook: A Steiner / Waldorf Approach'. Taking place in the Solar Cinema - 13:30: Energy Saving at Home
led by the Energy Saving Trust - 13:45: "Introduction to permaculture"
Permaculture is an approach to designing human settlements and perennial agricultural systems that mimic the relationships found in nature. Chris Chidlow will introduce the topic and showcase some local permaculture projects. Taking place in the Solar Cinema - 14:15: How to Happily Live Without a Car in York
with Anna Semlyen, author of 'Cutting Your Car Use' - 15:00: Composting Your Food Waste
with Catherine Bamford of York Rotters. - 15:45: York in Transition (invited)

We’ll also be inviting speakers and campaigners to take the stage between acts. Local organisations (usually those with stalls) will be given a few minutes each to give a brief overview of their work. You’ll also hear from other speakers on green themes, including:
- 13:15: Jeremy Piercy, founder of the Shared Earth chain of fair trade shops and author of 'Cats, Coffins and Fairtrade Sex Toys' will be talking about his experiences in the world of fair trade.
- 12:30: David Rees will be talking about The Co-operative, and why it's such a uniquely ethical phenomenon in the world of commerce.
