Will have trailer promoting healthy-eating and membership.


The National Trust

Promoting the work currently engaged upon to reduce the environmental footprint of the Treasurers House, York and promoting green living in the city. Will be talking about gardening organically and also bringing along the National Trust bicycle. Will also be promoting the work done by the National Trust in preserving natural habitats, access to green spaces and how membership of the Trust supports this.

Vale of York Conservation Volunteers

A small group of volunteers aged 16-25 promoting the re-introduction programme of otters along the River Foss. They aim to inform local residents and recruit perspective volunteers to aid in the construction of otter proof fencing.
Will be offering cakes in exchange for donations.

Viva!

National group campaigning for vegetarian/vegan lifestyles and animal rights. This stall will have information on current campaigns as well as selling merchandise such as recipe books, badges, pens, sweets, etc.

VSO York Supporters Group

A group of returned volunteers who have worked on various health, education and sustainable livelihood projects in Africa and Asia under the auspices of voluntary services overseas. They work towards raising awareness of developmental issues and volunteering as a way to improve our local and global community.

York & Ryedale Friends of the Earth

Friends of the Earth campaign on a wide variety of environmental issues. Will be encouraging people to support current campaigns on issues such as climate change, biofuels and improved protection for marine life.

York Oxfam Campaigns & York Fair Trade Forum

Stall will have information and leaflets on fair-trade and other Oxfam campaigns. Will also be giving out free samples of fair trade chocolate.
York Fair Trade Forum promotes fair trade in the city and supports local fair trade businesses.
York Oxfam Campaigns joins with campaigners across the globe in the fight against poverty.

York Green Party

Local branch of the national Green Party which promotes policies on sustainability, climate change action and social justice. Will be offering membership and will have some environmentally-related activities.

York in Transition

York in Transition is working to build on inclusive community that can collectively tackle locally the twin challenges of climate change and peak oil. They will be promoting the group and events they wil be holding and also share some activity showing some ideas for low carbon living.


York Trade & Debt Justice

A group supporting campaigns on international trade & debt issues, particularly as they affect the world’s poorest people. They are also campaigning on climate issues. Will have leaflets and other materials from Christian Aid, Oxfam, CAFOD, FoE, etc.


York Woodcraft Folk

The woodcraft folk are a progressive educational movement for children and young people, based upon principles of equality, peace, social justice and co-operation. The stall will be promoting membership of the group and the movement as a whole. There will be tents to promote camping around the stall and activities for children in the Children’s Area. There will also be a coconut shy for fundraising.

St Nicholas Fields

A 24 acre Local Nature Reserve which is owned by the City of York Council and managed by a local community group. The York Environment Centre is located on the edge of the Reserve and offers environmental education sessions for schools, kerbside recycling collection, home composting advice and other services to the local community and beyond.
